Terms of Use
Effective September 30, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Planely mobile app (“Planely,” “we,” “us”). By downloading or using Planely, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The service
Planely is an informational app for aviation enthusiasts that notifies you when commercial flights pass near a location you choose. Flight, route, aircraft, and weather information is provided by third-party data sources and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Planely is for general interest and entertainment only and must not be relied upon for navigation, flight planning, air-traffic, safety, operational, or emergency purposes.
Availability of flight data
Planely does not operate its own aircraft receivers or radar. Every alert depends on outside data feeds that we do not control, and those feeds can be delayed, degraded, interrupted, or withdrawn — with or without notice, and for any length of time. During an interruption you may receive fewer alerts than usual, or none at all.
We do not guarantee that flight data will be available, complete, accurate, or timely, and an interruption is not a defect in the app. Coverage depends on third-party receiver networks and varies by region, and we may change, narrow, or extend it at any time.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 years old to use Planely.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app, including by attempting to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, accessing it through unauthorized means, or using it in violation of any law.
Because the flight information in Planely reaches us under licenses and terms set by its providers, you also agree that you will not:
- use the app, or any information it shows you, for navigation, flight planning, air-traffic control, dispatch, or any other operational or safety-critical purpose;
- scrape, bulk-extract, redistribute, republish, resell, or sublicense the flight information shown in the app, or use it to build a competing data service;
- use the app to track, follow, harass, or intrude upon any individual, or to interfere with any aircraft, airport, or air-traffic operation;
- present information obtained from Planely as official, authoritative, or government-issued.
Planely Pro subscriptions
Planely offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, “Planely Pro,” that unlocks additional features. The following terms apply to subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store:
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Pricing. The subscription price and billing period (for example, monthly or annual) are shown in the app before you purchase.
- Managing & canceling. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests are subject to Apple’s policies.
Intellectual property
Planely and its content, branding, and software are owned by us and our licensors and are protected by applicable laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Third-party data and services
Planely relies on third-party services for flight, route, aircraft, weather, and subscription functionality. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or practices of those services.
Live flight information is derived from adsb.lol, a community network of volunteer-operated aircraft receivers, whose data is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0, and from air-traffic surveillance feeds published through the United States Federal Aviation Administration’s System Wide Information Management (SWIM) program.
Planely is not affiliated with, endorsed by, certified by, or connected to the Federal Aviation Administration or any other government agency. Information shown in the app is our own processed and reformatted product; it is not FAA data, it is not an official source, and the FAA makes no representation as to, and accepts no responsibility for, its accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose.
Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.
Changes to the service and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue features at any time, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
